BOWIE, Md. – In conjunction with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bowie State University women's volleyball team is gearing up for their Dig Pink match on Thursday, Oct. 21 when the Bulldogs host Elizabeth City State at 6 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause. In addition, Bowie State Athletics is requiring all fans to wear masks while inside A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-1 weekend against Southern Division opponents at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Roundup (Oct. 16-17). Bowie State snapped an 11-match losing skid with a 3-2 win over Livingstone. Although the Bulldogs dropped a 3-0 decision to Fayetteville State, BSU capped off the weekend with a 3-2 thrilling victory against Saint Augustine's.
Amongst the conference standings - sophomore, Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) is second in the league with 254 digs, averaging 4.16 digs per set. Graduate senior Christiana DuBose (Bowie, MD) has recorded a second-best (32) service aces on the year, averaging .52 aces per set. Meanwhile, junior Madison Marshall (Albany, NY) is the team's best offensive player with 91 total kills (1.69 kills per set) and senior Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, MD) owns 220 assists.
The Bulldogs enter Thursday's match still in search of their first division win on the season; they stand 0-4 in the North at fifth place.
This will be the second meeting between Bowie State and Elizabeth City State this season. ECSU swept the Bulldogs, 3-0 back on Sept. 27.
The Lady Vikings (20-3, 9-1 CIAA) currently sit in second place in the North with a 3-1 mark. ECSU comes to Bowie, Md., on a four-match win-streak, including a 3-0 sweep of Johnson C. Smith on Oct. 17. Jada Rouse is sixth in the CIAA with 214 kills – she leads the team offensively while Elizabeth Kellum has a conference and team-best (483) assists and Naijya Leggett is the CIAA's leader in digs (285). Rouse also posts conference-best (259) points.
