LINCOLN, Pa. – Bowie State women's volleyball captured their first road victory of the season against Lincoln University (PA) in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) matchup Thursday night.
BSU defeated the Lions 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-14, 25-15) and improves to 4-15 on the season and 3-9 in the conference while LUPA falls to 1-16 overall and 1-8 in league action.
Junior Lydia Leiner (Sykesville, MD) led the way offensively with 11 kills and 13 digs while freshman Regan Amos (Reisterstown, MD) added 13 assists. Junior Madison Marshall (Albany, NY) and sophomore Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) chipped in 11 digs apiece in the winning effort.
After a split between sets one and two, the Bulldogs got going offensively in the third and fourth set outscoring the Lions in kills, 10-5, and 11-8. With a 2-1 lead in the fourth stanza, the Lions stayed within a four-point margin of the Bulldogs until BSU took the lead 14-9 from three kills and a couple miscues and would never relinquish the lead for the 3-1 match win.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday, October 28th against Virginia Union inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The match will begin at 6 p.m.
