BOWIE, Md. – The No. 13 Bowie State football team (7-1, 5-0 CIAA) travels to Lincoln, Pa., this weekend to face Lincoln (PA) University on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Coatesville Area Senior High School with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out
The No. 13 Bulldogs are in the driver seat to repeat as Northern Division champions with a 27-7 road win at Virginia Union last weekend. BSU held the Panthers to just seven points as VUU's lone score came from a kickoff return in the opening quarter. The Bulldogs defense highlighted the win against Virginia Union, limiting the Panthers to 64-yards on the ground against a team that put up 363 the week before. VUU went 0-4 in fourth-down conversions against the Bulldogs.
In the Rankings
NCAA DII Super Regionals announced its initial rankings Monday (Oct. 25) and Bowie State earned a No. 2 slot, behind Valdosta State at No. 1. Along with the super-regional rankings, the Bulldogs moved up one spot to No. 13 in the AFCA Top 25 DII Coaches Poll and a top-10 selection in the D2 Football Top-25 poll at No. 9. Additionally, Bowie State climbed to No. 5 in the BOXTOROW HBCU football media poll.
Bulldogs in Weekly Honors
Bowie State had a pair of Bulldogs named to the CIAA Food Lion Weekly honors in junior offensive lineman Quinton Bobo (White Plains, MD) and senior running back Calil Wilkins (Temple Hills, MD). Bobo paved the way for 394 yards of total offense, including 282 yards on the ground. The Bulldogs offense scored 27 points, averaging nearly six yards per play, and registered 20 first downs in the win against VUU.
Wilkins recorded a season-high 134 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in the Bulldogs win. Additionally, Wilkins also caught three passes for 29 yards, including a five-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Ja'rome Johnson (Washington, D.C) during the winning effort. His performance also got him an honor roll nod for the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week.
The Series
Saturday's game marks the 12th meeting Bowie State and Lincoln (PA), with the series dating back to 2008. The Bulldogs have never lost to the Lions; BSU owns an 11-0 all-time record against LUPA.
Statistical Leaders for #13 Bowie State
Wilkins is second in the league with 696 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 146 while Johnson has completed 105-of-176 passes for 1,505 yards and 18 touchdowns (second in CIAA) through eight games. He averages 188.1 yards per outing and posts an efficiency of 157.3 as the play caller for the Bulldogs. Redshirt sophomore and wide receiver Keshane Hinckley (Laurel, MD) leads the receiver unit with 277-yards on 18 catches and two touchdowns.
Junior defensive lineman Joshua Pryor (Baltimore, MD) as well as redshirt sophomore Jonathan Ross (Waldorf, MD) have anchored the Bulldogs defense, as both Pryor and Ross have combined for 96 total tackles. Pryor has 15.5 tackle for losses, five sacks, six quarterback pressures, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery while Ross had tacked on 18 tackle for losses, five sacks, seven pressures and five forced fumbles.
Scouting Lincoln (PA)
The Lions post a 1-7 overall record and 1-4 mark in the CIAA after falling 23-3 to Virginia State on the road Saturday (Oct. 23). LUPA tied the with Trojans after the first quarter but was unable to score the remaining of the contest as VSU outscored them 10-0 in the second, 3-0 in the third and 7-0 in the fourth. Lincoln (PA) averages just under six points per game (5.25) while their opponents have put up 31.38. Amongst the CIAA, Lincoln is 12th in scoring offense and ninth in defense.
Andrew Banks has been the Lions play caller with 605-yards on 60 pass completions while on the ground, Samuel Jordan combined for 179 rushing yards on 49 carries. Drew Stephens leads LUPA's receiving unit with 188-reception yards on 10 catches – no receiver has scored a TD this season for Lincoln (PA).
Defensively, Devon Cathcart has recorded 59 total tackles, 8.5 tackle for losses, four sacks, three quarterback pressures and an interception.
