Box Score HARLEM, NY – Graduate senior Tyler Jones (Seat Pleasant, NJ) recorded a team-high 17 points and six rebounds but the Bowie State men's basketball team dropped a 77-60 decision to Dominican College during the Harlem Renaissance Classic Tuesday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

The loss dips the Bulldogs to 0-5 on the year while the Chargers improve to 5-0 on the year.

Joining Jones in double figure scoring was sophomore David McCollough (Bowie, MD) who added 14 points and seven rebounds.

For the contest, BSU committed 21 turnovers including 13 in the first half as the Dominican scored 25 points off the Bulldogs miscues. Bowie State shot 38-percent (23-30) from the field, 29-percent from the 3-point line (7-24) and 54-percent from the free throw line (7-13).

The Bulldogs got off to a good start, owning a 7-2 spread but in return the Chargers would steal the lead scoring six unanswered points with 12:00 on the game clock. Over the next couple of minutes, both teams would trade baskets as the lead changed three times.

The Bulldogs went into a scoring drought for roughly four minutes, as Dominican would stretch a lead of 27-13 after 3-point basket from Joshuel White with 5:48 left. Down by 14, the Bulldogs ended the half trailing 36-27 thanks to a 3-pointer from sophomore Anthony Carpenter (Reisterstown, MD) and a layup from Jones.

Coming out of the break, the Bulldogs cut the deficit to four points capped off by a jumper from junior Quinton Drayton (Bowie, MD) but the Chargers surged back ahead by double digits on a 3-pointer from Joshua Serran. The Bulldogs closed the gap to eight twice on a dunk from Jones and made jumper from McCullough but that would be the closest BSU would get the remainder of the way as the Charges grew a lead as large as 21 points.

Bowie State will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 28 when the Bulldogs play host to Augusta in A.C. Jordan Arena. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
