NORFOLK, Va. – After a tough shooting first quarter, the Bowie State women's basketball team orchestrated a mini run to pull within 15 of the Monarchs in the first half but the Bulldogs fell 70-29 to Division I Old Dominion Wednesday night at Chartway Arena.
The loss dipped the Bulldogs to 2-4 overall while ODU improves to 7-2 on the year.
Freshman Anii Harris (Ellicott City, MD) scored eight points off the bench to lead Bowie State while senior Talanya Hutton (Seat Pleasant, MD) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, six points and three steals.
BSU shot just 27-percent (11-41) from the field, including 2-of-9 from 3-point range and 28-percent (5-18) from the free throw line. The Monarchs held advantages in points in the paint (32-14), points off turnovers (35-7), second chances (21-6) and from the bench (40-23) while shooting 40-percent (26-64) from the floor, 30-percent (7-23) from the 3-point line and hitting 11-of-21 free throws.
Bowie State will return to action Saturday, Dec. 11 against California (PA). Game time is set for 1 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
