BOWIE, Md. –   The No. 25 Bowie State University football team will play its first game in Bulldogs Stadium since the 2019 season, Saturday, Sept. 11 when they host Saginaw Valley State University (1-0) at 1 p.m.
 
Saturday's contest will be the first meeting between the two Division II schools.

Bowie State (0-1) will be looking for their first win of the season against the Cardinals after falling short at FCS Delaware State, 32-24 during week one.
 
Senior quarterback Ja'rome Johnson (Washington, D.C.) went 14-of-29 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns while redshirt sophomore Jonathan Ross (Waldorf, MD) led the way with 10 tackles, including a two tackle for loss, two forced fumbles and a sack. For that performance, Ross earned DC Touchdown Player of the Week honor roll.
 
SSV, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) is coming off a win against Texas A&M, 13-9. Game leaders were highlighted by quarterback Matt Considine who went 18-of-33 in passes worth 236 yards while wide receiver Casey Williams caught 11 passes for 162 yards. Additionally, running back Tommy Scott aided 12 carries for 11 yards and a score.
 
Defensively, Trevor Nowaske led the Cardinals defense with 14 tackles. SSV is led by Ryan Brady in his second season.
