Bowie, Md. – The Bowie State University volleyball team will hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 25th for a tri-match against Kutztown University (PA) and Frostburg State University (MD) at the Keystone Arena in Kutztown, Pa.
BSU's match time between Kutztown is set for 12 noon, followed by a 2 p.m. start against Frostburg State.
The Bulldogs opening match against Kutztown will be the fourth meeting between the two teams since 2009 with KU holding the all-time record 3-0 against BSU. The last time these two programs met was in 2019, when the Golden Bears won 3-0 (25-18, 25-5, 25-11).
This match will be the third meeting with Frostburg State as the Bobcats are 2-0 all-time versus BSU since 2019. The last time these two programs met, the Bobcats won 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-9).
The Bulldogs are 1-5 on the season after falling 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-10) to Virginia State in their conference opener Thursday night. Game leaders were junior Noel Snow (Mount Airy, MD) who registered four kills while senior Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, MD) dished out 14 assists. Defensively, sophomore Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) collected 11 digs in the effort.
Kutztown (4-6) is coming off a 3-0 win against Georgian Court, while Frostburg State (1-9) looks to recover from a 3-1 loss to Pitt-Johnstown in their last outing.
KU averages 10.5 kills per set (378 kills), 9.8 assists (354), and 15.8 digs (567) per outing while their opponents average 12.6 kills per set, 12.0 assists, and 17.9 digs. Team leaders are Erin Patterson with 75 kills, aided by Lexi Morrow with 295 assists, and Sydney Wilson collecting a total of 174 digs.
As for the Bobcats, they average 10.5 kills per set (379), 9.5 assists (342), and 18.2 digs (654) per outing while opponents average 13.1 kills per set, 12.1 assess, and 17.9 digs. Leading the way offensively is Beverly Braun with 103 kills aided by Hayley Delour with 260 assists, and Mckenna Houser with 124 digs.
