Bulldogs Drop a 3-0 Decision at Elizabeth City State

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Bowie State women's volleyball team dropped its sixth straight match in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-20) defeat to Elizabeth City State Monday night inside the R.L. Vaughan Center. The loss moved the Bulldogs to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play while the Vikings improve their record to 11-2 on the year and 2-0 in conference action.

Senior Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, MD) led the way for Bowie State, dishing out 15 assists while sophomore Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) tallied 10 digs.

Junior Madison Marshall (Albany, NY) put up a team-high nine kills and nine digs while freshman Regan Amos (Reisterstown, MD) chipped in 10 assists.

Although Bowie State was held to .104 (32-22-96) attacking percentage – it was the team's second highest this season.

In a tight opening set, the Vikings broke away from Bowie State scoring four straight to lead 14-11. A kill by Marshall sparked a mini run for the Bulldogs to close the gap to four (21-17) but three straight errors by BSU gave Elizabeth City State the 25-22 edge.

Bowie State fell behind 6-1 to begin the second set. The Bulldogs then found themselves down nine after an attack error as BSU never got any closer than seven the rest of the way.

Coming out of intermission, BSU put its foot on the gas to go ahead 12-7 capped off by a miscue from ECSU but the Vikings managed to tie the set at 12 apiece after scoring five unanswered points. The set would see a couple more ties until the Vikings went on a 13-5 run for the third set win.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back with a pair of matches on Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3 at the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Winston-Salem State. Check back on www.bsubulldogs.com for match details.
