BOWIE, Md. – The No. 20 Bowie State Bulldogs will host Johnson C. Smith University for its annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 2. The Bulldogs and Golden Bulls will kick off on Bulldogs Stadium at 2 p.m.

Saturday's tilt will be the 27th meeting between Johnson C. Smith and Bowie State. Although the all-time series is tied at 13-13, the Bulldogs have won eight of the last 10 outings including the last matchup in 2016 where BSU blanked JCSU, 52-0.
No. 20 Bowie State is 3-1 and 1-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) following a 49-0 win at Livingstone last week. The Golden Bulls (0-3, 0-1 CIAA) are still in search of their first win of the season. They dropped a 43-7 decision to Virginia Union last week.
The Bulldogs average 32 points per game while limiting its opponents to 16. Through four games, BSU has racked up 1,267 yards of total offense including 858 passing yards and 409 rushing yardage. Senior running back Calil Wilkins (Temple Hills, MD) has 201 yards on 63 carries and a touchdown while quarterback and senior Ja'rome Johnson (Washington, D.C.) posts 216.3 passing yards per game (865 yards) and nine touchdowns – good for second in the CIAA. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Quron Winder (Baltimore, MD) leads the team in total receptions with 10 for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, BSU leads the nation in defensive touchdowns with four on the season, including three fumble returns for a touchdown. The Bulldogs are second in the nation in total defense – allowing 158.5 yards per game. Redshirt sophomore and defensive lineman Jonathan Ross (Waldorf, MD) has a team-high 25 tackles to go along with 6.5 tackle for loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles and a quarterback pressure while redshirt junior and defensive lineman Joshua Pryor (Baltimore, MD) has 24 total tackles, seven tackle for loss, two pressures and a half of sack through four games.
JCSU is averaging 816 yards on offense, 363 on the ground and 453 through the air. Davion Nelson has a team-high 196 yards and a touchdown on 44 carries to lead the rushing unit while Ollie Shepherd has completed 46-percent of his passes for 285 yards. Reggie Bryant has a team-high 250 receiving yards on 14 catches.
The Golden Bulls allow 353 yards per game (203 rushing and 856 passing). Brandon Moses has a team-high 18 tackles while Marvin Strong has tallied 15 tackles.
