BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State University women's volleyball team will host Goldey-Beacom in its home opener on Thursday, welcoming the Lightning for a 7 p.m. showdown inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
The match will be broadcast live on the Bulldogs Sports Network. Live stats will also be available on www.BSUBullogs.com.
Thursday's match will mark the 20th meeting between the two programs since 2008. Goldey-Beacom has the all-time record over Bowie State at 17-2 overall. The last time these two teams met was in 2017 with the Lightning taking a 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-17) win over BSU.
The Bulldogs are 0-1 after falling 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-14) at Delaware State Tuesday. Junior and outside hitter Noel Snow (Mount Airy, MD) and graduate student and middle/right side Christiana DuBose (Bowie, MD) both registered three kills apiece on offense while sophomore and defensive specialist Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) collected a team-high 12 digs.
Goldey-Beacom (0-4) is coming off a 3-1 loss to Millersville and a 3-2 setback against Mercyhurst last weekend at the Ramfest in West Chester, Pa.
The Lightning averages 9.6 kills per set (163 kills), 8.6 assists (146 assists) and 13.6 digs (232 digs) per outing while their opponents average 11.1 kills per set, 10.1 assists and 12.8 digs. Julia Syrdahl is the team's leader in kills (44), while Autumn Spendlove has a team-high (26) in assists and Neshlian Roman Concepcion has hauled in 90 total digs.
