BOWIE, Md. – In its first official game action of the 2022-23 season, the Bowie State men's basketball team (1-0) used a strong second half to overpower the Frostburg State Bobcats (0-1) during the nightcap of the opening day of the Bowie State Tip-Off Classic Friday night inside a packed A.C. Jordan Arena, 94-79.
After leading by just two at halftime, 39-37, the Bulldogs outscored the Bobcats 55-42 in the second half for its first win of the season.
The Bulldogs shot 63-percent from the floor in the second half, which included makes from 12 different players across the final 20 minutes. In addition, Bowie State controlled points in the paint, 34-14 and fast breaks, 14-4 in the second half.
Four different Bulldogs reached double figures on the day, led by
Mark Bradshaw with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
Kyree Freeman-Davis added 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting while
Warren Mouganda connected 7-of-9 from the free throw line to go along with 15 pints – he was 4-of-5 from the field.
Caleb Johnson rounded out the double digit scoring for Bowie State with 13 points and a pair of rebounds, assists and steals. He was perfect from the 3-point line (2-2), connecting 4-of-7 field goals and 3-of-4 shots from the stripe.
Additionally,
Anthony Carpenter and
Joel Webb tied for a team-best in total rebounds with seven apiece.
Bowie State will wrap up the tip-off classic with a 4 p.m. contest against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Nov. 12 inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
