Bulldogs Shoot Season-High 55-Percent From Deep, Posts 85-81 Win at Bloomfield

CALDWELL, NJ --The Bowie State men's basketball team shot 55-percent from three-point range on the way to an 85-81 win against the Bloomfield Bears (2-3) at Caldwell Gym Monday night.

The Bulldogs (2-3) had two players score in double figures, led by Mark Bradshaw, who had 22 points. Quinton Drayton added 19 points off of the bench and Caleb Johnson added seven points, six assists and two steals.

From beyond the arc, BSU nailed 11 threes on 20 attempts. Bradshaw was the most prolific shooter for the Bulldogs, draining five treys in the contest.

Bowie State's defense had key moments, disrupting Bloomfield shots in the contest, coming away with eight blocks on the night. Detwan Montague led the way individually for the Bulldogs with two rejections.

How It Happened
After falling behind 26-19, Bowie State went on a 7-0 run with 9:09 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Bradshaw, to tie the game at 26. The Bears then pulled ahead, sending the Bulldogs into halftime down 41-40.

After intermission, Bowie State kept the Bloomfield from increasing their lead before going on a 10-0 run, finished off by Bradshaw's layup, to seize a 54-45 lead with 16:34 to go in the contest. The Bears narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Bulldogs still held on for the 85-81 win. Bowie State capitalized on six of Bloomfield's turnovers in the half, collecting 12 points off those turnovers, respectively. 

Game Notes

» The Bulldogs made over half of their attempts from three point range, knocking down 11 of 20 shots.
» BSU's bench came alive - registering 43 points to its scoring output.
» The Bulldogs were active in affecting shots on the defensive end, recording eight blocks as a team.
» Bradshaw led the Bulldogs with a game-high 22 points.
» Bowie State got a team-high seven rebounds from Amare Wimbush.
» The win snapped a three-game losing skid for Bowie State.
