MILLERSVILLE, Pa. --Senior Quinton Drayton (Bowie, MD) scored a game-high 19 points but the Bowie State men's basketball team fell, 69-60 Wednesday night to Millersville (3-3) at Pucillo Gymnasium.
Joining Drayton in double digit scoring was junior Mark Bradshaw (Chester, PA) who tacked on 12 points and sophomore Caleb Johnson (Baltimore, MD) added nine points and four steals.
Sophomore Elijah Rantin (Baltimore, MD) pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Bowie State offense which grabbed 10 boards and turned them into eight second chance points.
The Bowie State defense was effective, forcing 20 Millersville turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the other end of the floor. Johnson's four steals led the way individually for the Bulldogs.
How It Happened
After falling behind 27-14, Bowie State went on a 10-0 run with 3:58 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 27-24. The Marauders answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Bulldogs down 29-25 entering halftime.
Millersville kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 52-45 advantage before Bowie State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Bradshaw's three, to shrink the deficit to 52-51 with 7:41 to go in the contest. The Marauders responded and outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 69-60. Bowie State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 17 of its 35 total points.
