Women’s Volleyball Hosts Washington Adventist Thursday

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State women's volleyball team will look to get back into the win column on Thursday, Sept. 22 when the Bulldogs play host to the visiting Washington Adventist Shock inside A.C. Jordan Arena. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.

The Series
Bowie State is 16-0 all-time against the WAU Shock dating back to the first meeting in 2011. The Bulldogs have claimed 15-of-16 matches by the scores of 3-0 including last time where BSU earned the sweep on Sept. 5, 2019 in A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Bulldogs (2-3) suffered a three-set (18-25, 23-25, 23-25) loss to Millersville Tuesday (Sept. 20) on the road. On the evening, Bowie State hit .00 compared to Millersville's.178, although both teams accounted for 107 total attacks apiece.

Graduate senior Kendal Hoges (West Orange, NJ) led the Bulldogs offense with seven kills while freshman Nadira Avery (Springdale, MD) added five on a .364 hitting performance. Junior Lindsey Grossman (Albany, OR) finished with 18 assists, four service aces, four kills and four digs as junior Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) collected 21 digs.

The Bulldogs are 2-2 against non-conference opponents this season.

Washington Adventist
WAU (2-2) is coming off a 3-0 defeat by Notre Dame of Maryland on Sept. 20. Notre Dame of Maryland's 31 kills (19.1% hitting percentage) and 37 digs helped the Gators take control of the night, holding the Shock to 14 kills and 15 errors. Samiah Gross led the Shock with five kills) and six digs, along with Sara Adalla, who had three kills, six digs, and two blocks. Anastasia Allen also finished with three kills, six assists, and five digs.

The Bulldogs will the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up on Saturday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 25 in both A.C. Jordan Arena and Mckeldin Gymnasium. A complete schedule of the round-up will be available on the Bulldog athletic website.
