DOVER, Del. – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (0-1) fell 3-0 (25-13, 25-4, and 25-15) to the Hornets of Delaware State (5-2)Tuesday night inside Memorial Hall.

Graduate senior Jailynn Ivey (Bowie, MD) led the Bulldogs with 12 kills and two blocks while junior Lindsey Grossman (Albany, OR) had 14 assists and junior Neysha Washington (Winchester, VA) collected 10 digs.

In the first set, the Hornets took a 9-3 lead after three-straight miscues from the Bulldogs. Eventually DSU would stretch its lead to double digits over BSU before capturing the set point on a Bulldog service error.

The second set was all Delaware State as the Hornets held a 17-1 ratio in services aces in route to the 25-4 set win and 2-0 lead.

Bowie State took a 1-0 lead in the third but DSU followed up with eight-straight points to take an 8-2 lead. The Bulldogs went on a mini run, scoring seven unanswered to pull within three (13-10) but the Hornets managed to tack on three more points before going on a 8-4 scoring frame to close out the set win (25-15) and match victory.

DSU finished with 37 kills, 41 digs, 33 assists and 17 services aces while Bowie State collected 17 kills, 15 assists and 35 digs.

The Bulldogs will welcome Goldey-Beacom on Thursday, Sept. 8 for its home opener at 6 p.m. from A.C. Jordan Arena.
