Bulldogs Offense Freezes in Overtime, Fall to Saint Augustine’s, 73-64

BOWIE, Md. – After holding a 30-24 scoring advantage in the second half to force the game into overtime, the Bowie State men's basketball team (4-12, 2-2 CIAA) was held to just point, falling 73-64 to the visiting Falcons of Saint Augustine's (5-7, 2-1 CIAA) Thursday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action.

In the first half, both teams went back and forth as Bowie State and St. Augustine's both held a lead at least three times apiece before the Falcons closed out the half on a 13-7 run in the last four minutes of the half to lead 39-33 at halftime.

SAU maintained the lead for majority of the second half, including a lead of 11 – its largest of the game after a 3-pointer but the Bulldogs clawed back, scoring 12-striaght points capped by a tip-in from redshirt freshman Detwan Montague (Baltimore, MD) at the 3:47 mark which gave BSU the one point lead (61-60). St. Augustine's drilled a 3-pointer from Moses Mupungo but freshman Warren Mouganda (Bowie, MD) drew a foul and was able to sink two free throws, forcing the game into overtime.

In the extra session, the Falcons registered a 6-1 run in the first four minutes in overtime before closing out the contest on four-straight free throws for a 4-0 run. The Bulldogs lone point came from a free throw from junior Joel Webb (Forestville, MD).

The Bulldogs were led by senior Quinton Drayton (Bowie, MD) with 15 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Caleb Johnson (Baltimore, MD) added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. Mouganda tacked on 10 points off the bench to round out the double digit scoring for Bowie State.
