BOWIE, MD – This weekend the Bowie State women's volleyball team will travel to Elizabeth City, NC to face three teams in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up II hosted by Elizabeth City State beginning Saturday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 15. The Bulldogs will face teams from the Southern Division that features matchups against St. Augustine's, Fayetteville State and Claflin.

Last Outing
Bowie State (2-19) closed out the non-conference portion of the 2023 schedule, falling in three straight sets to Millersville (7-10) by the scores of 15-25, 15-25 and 10-25 on Tuesday. Stat leaders for that game included Madyson Brinson with six kills, Iman Wright with six digs while Melisa Anacius led defensively with three blocks and Makenna Scott adding six assists.
The Opponents
St. Augustine's (4-9, 4-4 CIAA) won their last two outings against Livingstone and Winston-Salem State. The Lady Falcons swept the Lady Blue Bears of LC, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-10) aided by Madison Jones who led the offensive attack with 13 kills, Nayara Pereira finished with 17 digs and Aubree Reyes accounted for 25 assists. While Winston-Salem State won a set, the next three-straight went in the Lady Falcon's favor 3-1 (15-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-21). Leaders for that match included Sydney Moore (27 assists), Nayara Pereira (10 digs) and Madison Jones (9 kills).
The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos (9-10, 6-1 CIAA) enter the round-up on a six-match winning streak, featuring its two most recent wins that were 3-0 sweeps over Livingstone and Claflin. Against the Lady Panthers, players like Chiara Vittoni who posted a match-high 16 kills aided by Nikole Akamine who charted 22 assists. In the competition against LC (1-11), FSU won in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) led by Jaida Bynum who had 25 assists, followed by A'Lexus Everett with 12 kills and Jordan Johnson with 23 digs.
Claflin currently sits at 7-5 on the season with a 3-4 CIAA conference record. The Lady Panthers last competition was against Fayetteville State on Oct. 9 as Claflin succumbed in a 3-0 decision. A notable highlight for Claflin came from Jasmine Kirkland who grabbed 13 digs in the setback.
