BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's volleyball team will resume Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division action on Thursday, Oct. 5 when the Bulldogs travel to Elizabeth City, N.C. to face the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State. Match time is set for 6 p.m. inside the R.L. Vaughan Center.

The Series
Since 2008, the Bulldogs have never beaten the Lady Vikings in R.L. Vaughan Center. ECSU owns a 26-4 all-time series record over BSU since the 2008 season. Bowie State has lost its last five outings to the Lady Vikings that also includes a 3-0 loss in the last meeting between the two teams that occurred on Oct. 13, 2022 in Bowie, Md.

Bowie State (2-16) is coming off a 0-4 weekend at the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Virginia State last weekend. The Bulldogs suffered 3-1 and 3-2 to both Winston-Salem State and Livingstone day one of the round-up, followed by a 3-2 loss to Johnson C. Smith and a 3-0 decision to Shaw on Sunday.

Madyson Brinson leads the team in kills (121) while
Haley Pelham has moved up in the assist category with 260 assists.
Tristynn Kerr is the team's leader in digs (151) and assists (29) while
Nina Edwards has a team-high 46 blocks, she is also second on the team in kills (94). As a team, Bowie State averages 8.0 kills per set while it's opponents average 10.7 kills per set.Â
A Look at the Lady Vikings
The defending CIAA champions and Lady Vikings (6-10) are 3-1 in conference play this season. In the CIAA Round-Up, ECSU went 2-1, defeating St. Augustine's (3-1) and Claflin (3-0) but dropped a 3-0 decision to Fayetteville State. Elizabeth Kellum leads the team in kills (142), assists (249), service aces (25) while Naijya Leggett has accounted (234). Thursday's match will be the home opener for Elizabeth City State.
