Bradshaw and Johnson lead Bulldogs Over Millersville, 83-73

BOWIE, MD -- Mark Bradshaw collected 28 points and Caleb Johnson added 21 as the Bowie State men's basketball team took down the Millersville Marauders, 83-73 at home Wednesday inside A.C. Jordan Arena.

The Bulldogs (2-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Bradshaw, who had 28 points and four steals. Johnson added a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Kyree Freeman-Davis chipped in as well with 18 points off of the bench. Bowie State's offense was strong from downtown, pouring in nine threes on 19 attempts. Bradshaw hit five treys for the Bulldogs in the contest.

BSU disrupted Millersville shots in the contest, coming away with eight blocks. Jimmy Sorunke led the way individually for the Bulldogs with three rejections.

How It Happened
After jumping out to a 19-17 advantage, Bowie State went on an 11-0 run with 9:22 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Amare Wimbush, to increase its lead to 30-17. The Bulldogs then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 41-27 advantage. Bowie State capitalized on 11 Millersville turnovers in the period, turning them into 12 points on the other end of the floor.

Bowie State kept its lead intact before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Freeman-Davis' three, to grow the lead to 58-48 with 11:24 to go in the contest. The Bulldogs held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 83-73 win. Bowie State made the most of seven offensive rebounds to tack on seven second chance points out of 42 total in the period.

Looking Ahead
Bowie State will travel to the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a tip-off slated for 12 noon. The contest will serve as the first road contest for the Bulldogs for 2023-24.
