BOWIE, MD --- Bowie State women's basketball (3-2) will finally get the chance to play in front of a home crowd as the Bulldogs are set to host nationally-ranked California (PA) (4-0) on Monday, Nov. 27 at 5:30 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The non-conference tilt will air live on the Bulldog Sports Network.
Bowie State has two players averaging double figures in scoring led by
Anii Harris with 17.6 points per game. Defensively,
Katerra Myers is the team's top rebounder, posting 7.2 rebounds per outing.Â

The Series
Bowie State and Cal (PA) will meet for the fourth time in program history, BSU has never beaten the Vulcans. The two teams met last season with California (PA) taking a 78-62 win at home over Bowie State on Nov. 18, 2022.

Behind a 20-point bench performance, Bowie State downed the Rams of Shepherd on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The Bulldogs (3-2) had three players score in double figures, led byÂ
Harris, who had 16 points.Â
Mia Smith added 11 points, eight rebounds and two steals whileÂ
Jayla Irvin chipped in as well with 10 points and four steals off of the bench.
Bowie State out-rebounded Shepherd 52-31 in Tuesday's game, led by eight boards from Myers. The Bulldogs also grabbed 21 offensive rebounds and scored 12 second chance points. BSU's defense caused its share of mistakes in the contest, forcing 20 Ram turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the other end of the floor. Irvin's four steals led the way individually for the Bulldogs.
The Opponent
Cal (PA) debuted at No. 20 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Coaches' Poll on Tuesday. The Vulcans have opened the year with three-straight victories, including a pair of wins against teams that played in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Cal started the season with an 84-68 victory over preseason Mountain East Conference (MEC) favorite and nationally-ranked West Virginia State on Nov. 11 before earning a 64-48 win against Charleston (W.Va.) the following day. The Vulcans then rolled to a 58-37 victory over Davis & Elkins on Thursday.
California (PA), a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) averages 72 points while holding a scoring margin of 16.7 over its opponents through four games this season. The team is shooting around 45-percent from the field including 32-percent from the 3-point line and 55-percent from the charity stripe. The Vulcans leading scoring is Sierra Bermudez (14.8 ppg).Â
Next Up
The Bulldogs will remain at home on Tuesday, Dec. 5 when the Bulldogs welcome Goldey-Beacom at 5 p.m. in non-conference action. BSU is 3-1 against the Lightening and 2-0 at home, however during last season's meeting, Bowie State fell short 67-62 on the road.
