Morse, Hinckley, and Johnson Combine for 6 Touchdowns as Bulldogs Power Past Lincoln (PA), 46-39

LINCOLN, PA -- Jordan Morse, Keshane Hinckley, and Corey Johnson each reached the end zone multiple times, helping Bowie State to a 46-39 win over Lincoln (PA) on the road on Saturday afternoon in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division action at the LU Athletic Stadium.

The Bulldogs close out the 2023 regular season with a 6-4 overall record and 5-3 in CIAA play, while the Lions end its season 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the league.

Morse led Bowie State's passing attack with 277 yards through the air, tossing three touchdowns without throwing an interception. The signal caller also added 66 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.To go along with Morse's showing, Joshua Thurston added to the Bulldogs' rushing attack by picking up 63 yards in the game, picking up 4.2 yards per carry. Keshane Hinckley pulled in eight catches for 95 yards and two scores, followed by Kyle Parker who made his presence felt in the passing game, recording four receptions for 79 yards. The Bulldogs also added 59 yards receiving and one touchdown from James McNeill, III in the game.

Kameron Blount led the Bowie State defensive effort, totaling seven tackles and a tackle for loss. Uvel Paul, Jr. added 2.0 tackle for loss and one sack and Shawan Lewis had five tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, and one sack. Additionally, Shaun Tolbert added a team's second best six tackles and tackle for loss, following Hasan Mosley's interception, two breakups and three tackles.

The Bulldogs won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing one turnover while avoiding any giveaways, with Bowie State turning that takeaway into seven points. BSU recorded a stellar outing on the ground, racking up 205 rushing yards while averaging 5.1 yards per carry and out-rushing Lincoln (PA) by five yards. The Bowie State offense did a good job prolonging drives, converting on 80-percent of third-down attempts.

BSU took care of business in the red zone, scoring six times on six trips inside Lincoln (PA)'s 20-yard line, with all of those scores being touchdowns.

How It Happened
Bowie State responded to a 7-0 lead from Lincoln (PA) with a score to tie it up at 7-7 with 6:54 remaining in the first quarter.The Bulldogs proceeded to break the 7-7 tie with an 18-yard rushing touchdown from Johnson, making the score 14-7.

After Lincoln (PA) evened the game at 14-14, Bowie State responded with 2:47 left in the second quarter with a 20-yard touchdown reception from Morse to Hinckley to jump back in front 20-14. LUPA came back to tie the game at 20-20, but the Bulldogs answered back with a two-yard touchdown pass from Morse to Hinckley to jump back in front 26-20.

Lincoln (PA) tied the game at 26-26 before BSU jumped back in front with a four-yard touchdown run from Johnson to make the count 33-26 at the 3:51 mark in the third quarter.The Lions rallied to tie the game at 33 before the Bulldogs took the lead back, pushing their advantage to 39-33 on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Morse to McNeill, III.

The Bulldogs held the Lions off the board before scoring for a final time with 1:45 remaining in the fourth quarter, stretching their lead to 46-33 on a eight yard rush from Morse. Bowie State didn't score again and Lincoln (PA) tacked on six more points to finish off the scoring.
