BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State women's volleyball team knocked off the Lincoln (PA) Lady Lions 3-2 (18-25, 25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 17-15) Monday at home inside A.C. Jordan Arena Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) action and senior night. The Bulldogs recognized senior Kiera Brothers prior to the first serve.
The conference win improved Bowie State's record to 4-25 overall and 2-13 in CIAA play while the Lady Lions fall to 4-21 and 1-12 in the league.
The Bulldogs were led by a double-double from Iman Wright, who registered 13 kills and 10 digs on the day. Brothers also added nine kills to help the attack while on the defensive end, Ayana Johnson chipped in for with 12 digs to go with six blocks from Melisa Anacius.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-18. BSU trailed by as many as seven points as Lincoln (PA) grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was notted up two times before the Lions took control.
SET 2 | Bowie State evened the match at 1-1 following a 25-17 victory in the second set. The Bulldogs led from the first point on in the set to earn the victory. Bowie State opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 19-9 before finishing off the set, totaling 15 kills in the set. The Bulldogs hit .387 over the course of the set.
SET 3 | BSU won again in the third set to take a 2-1 match lead. The Bulldogs took the set 25-13 powered by a strong performance on the attacking side. Bowie State registered a .400 attack percentage with 11 kills in the set win. The Bulldogs ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza. BSU offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Bowie State couldn't keep the win streak alive, as the Lady Lions forced a fifth set with a 25-22 fourth-set win. The Bulldogs rallied from a nine-point deficit at 22-13, but it wasn't enough as Lincoln (PA) held on to win the set.
SET 5 | The Bulldogs opened a two sets to one lead and held off Lincoln (PA)'s rally attempt, which included a fourth set victory, to win the fifth set 17-15 and the match 3-2. Impressive serving helped the Bulldogs take set five and the match. Bowie State notched three aces in the set win. The Bulldogs opened up a 14-5 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there.

Following Monday's meeting with Lincoln (PA), the Bulldogs will travel to Ettrick, Va., to take on Virginia State in the final match of the 2023 season Thursday, Nov. 9. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. from the VSU Multipurpose Center.
