Bulldogs Fall 88-73 to George Washington on the Road

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Bowie State men's basketball team got a 36-point performance from the bench, but fell 88-73 to the George Washington Revolutionaries (9-2) on the road Tuesday night in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (4-6) had four players score in double figures, led by Caleb Johnson, who had 16 points, five assists and two steals. Kyree Freeman-Davis tacked on 13 points off the bench and Mark Bradshaw chipped in as well with 11 points and three steals off the bench. Led by Jimmy Sorunke's two offensive rebounds, BSU pulled down 11 boards that resulted in seven second chance points.

BSU forced 15 George Washington turnovers while committing 11 themselves in the contest. The Bulldogs turned those takeaways into 16 points on the offensive end of the floor. Bradshaw's three steals led the way for Bowie State.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs fell short 46-28 at halftime, George Washington kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 88-59 advantage before BSU went on a 14-0 run, finished off by Bradshaw's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 88-73 with 35 seconds to go in the contest.

The Bulldogs were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 88-73. Despite the loss, Bowie State took care of business in the paint, recording 24 of its 45 points in the lane.

» The Bulldogs shot well from three point range, knocking down eight of 20 long range attempts.
» BSU put on a passing clinic, recording an assist on 66 percent of made baskets.
» The Bowie State bench came alive by adding 36 points to its scoring output.
» Freeman-Davis and Mark Bradshaw came off the bench to score 13 and 11 points, respectively.
» The Bulldogs defense forced 15 turnovers.
» BSU cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 11 offensive boards in the game.
» Johnson led the Bulldogs with a game-high 16 points.
» Bowie State got a game-high eight rebounds from Sorunke.
