Bulldogs Fall in Battle Against Felician

RUTHERFORD, NJ -- The Bowie State men's basketball team out-rebounded the Felician Golden Falcons 38-32, but fell 89-75 on the road Monday night at JJJ Gymnasium. 

The Bulldogs (3-4) had three players score in double figures, led by Amare Wimbush, who had 17 points and six rebounds. Deven Richmond added 13 points and Joel Webb chipped in as well with 12 points and two steals.

In the contest, BSU grabbed 38 rebounds compared to Felician's 32, led by Caleb Johnson's seven boards. Defensively, the Bulldogs accounted for six blocks led by Corey Barnes who had team-best two rejections. Additionally, Bowie State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 14 of its 42 total points.

How It Happened
Bowie State got off to a slow start and fell behind 45-33 heading into halftime.

Felician kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 66-49 advantage before BSU went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Mark Bradshaw's three, to shrink the deficit to 66-58 with 11:19 to go in the contest. Felician responded by outscoring the Bulldogs the rest of the way.

» The Bulldogs shared the ball well, recording an assist on 63 percent of made field goals.
» Bowie State held a 38-32 rebounding advantage.
» The Bulldogs were active in affecting shots on the defensive end, tallying six blocks as a team.
» Wimbush led the Bulldogs with 17 points.
» BSU got a team-high seven rebounds from Johnson.
