Pullen Collects 3 Hits in Bulldogs Loss to Frostburg State

MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- Senior Akirra Pullen collected three hits, but the Bowie State Bulldogs fell to the Frostburg State Bobcats 7-6 Sunday.

Sophomore Lindsey George (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Bowie State (5-3).

In addition to her three hits, Pullen had a home run and three RBI to lead the Bulldogs. Sophomore Kayla Evans furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Bulldogs first put runs on the board in the second inning. Evans' run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Bowie State.

The Bulldogs deficit grew to 6-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the fifth inning. Bowie State scored twice on Pullen's two-run homer, which tightened the Bobcats lead to 6-4.

Bowie State kept the Bobcats off the board before narrowing the gap to 6-5 in the sixth.

The Bobcats expanded their lead to 7-5 before the Bowie State offense got back to work, digging into that lead in the seventh. The Bulldogs scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Pullen, tightening the Frostburg State lead to 7-6. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
