GAME 2 | Bowie State 5, Bloomsburg 3
BOWIE, MD --Â The Bowie State Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-3 victory over the Bloomsburg Huskies on Tuesday evening. The win stamped the sweep for the Bulldogs over the Huskies for the first time in program history! Previously, BSU had loss eight-straight before Tuesday's twinbill.
Sophomore Karen Fritzges (2-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Bowie State (8-6). The right-hander went three shutout innings without giving up a hit, two walks and striking out two. Senior Akirra Pullen started the ballgame and went two innings, surrendering three runs, zero earned, on one hit.
Sophomore Kayla Evans led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double and two RBI. Pullen put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Huskies then tied the ballgame at three before the Bulldogs came back to reclaim their advantage in the second inning. BSU pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Evans that scored senior Shanya Gordon and sophomore Aliyah Smith, which brought the Bulldogs lead to 5-3. The score remained 5-3 for the rest of the game, as Bowie State held on for the win.

» Bloomsburg (PA) was led offensively by freshman Sage Weidlich, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
