GLEN ALLEN, VA -- The No. 1 Bowie State Bulldogs fell 1-0 to the No. 2 Claflin Lady Panthers during the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Saturday afternoon. Both teams will now play in a winner takes all at 6:30 p.m. from the RF&P Park.
Sophomore Lindsey George (13-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Bowie State (34-14). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out eight.
Sophomore Kayla Evans led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-2 in the ballgame with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bowie State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Bulldogs went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the seventh, when freshman Alaysia Ross made it into scoring position with one out.
