RALEIGH, NC --The Bowie State men's basketball team held Shaw (8-6,4-2 CIAA) to just 20-percent from 3-point range in a 3-for-15 shooting performance, but fell 83-71 to the Bears on the road Saturday afternoon in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross division action inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (6-12, 1-6 CIAA) had three players score in double figures, led by Kevon Corley, who had 16 points. Joel Webb tacked on 13 points and Warren Mouganda helped out with 12 points. Bowie State took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 42 points in the lane in the setback.
How It Happened
Bowie State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 40-29 heading into halftime.
Shaw kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 45-32 advantage before BSU went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Caleb Johnson's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 45-37 with 17:24 to go in the contest. Shaw responded and outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 83-71.Â
