RALEIGH, NC --The Bowie State men's basketball team shot 53.8-percent from three-point range, but fell to the Saint Augustine's (6-8, 2-2 CIAA) Falcons 71-69 on the road Saturday afternoon inside Emery Gymnasium.
BSU (6-11, 1-5 CIAA) had three players score in double figures, led by Kyree Freeman-Davis, who had 20 points. Kevon Corley added 13 points off of the bench and Caleb Johnson chipped in as well with 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. BSU shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting six shots from deep to score 18 of its 41 points.
The Bulldogs defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 19 Saint Augustine's turnovers while committing 10. Those takeaways turned into 21 points on the other end of the floor. Johnson's four steals led the way individually for the Bulldogs.
How It Happened
After falling behind 24-14, Bowie State went on a 5-0 run with 6:59 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Johnson, to narrow its deficit to 24-19. SAU answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Bulldogs down 37-28 entering halftime.
The Falcons kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 48-37 advantage before Bowie State went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Freeman-Davis' layup, to shrink the deficit to 48-46 with 11:24 to go in the contest. The Bulldogs were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 71-69.

Bowie State will not return to action again until Saturday, Jan. 13 when the Bulldogs travel back to Raleigh, N.C. but this time to face Shaw in a CIAA matchup. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
