Women's Volleyball Travel to Millersville for Non-Conference Action Tuesday

BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State women's volleyball team will travel to Millersville, Pa., on Tuesday, Oct. 29 to take on the Millersville University Marauders for a non-conference battle inside the Pucillo Gymnasium. First serve slated for 7 p.m.

The Series
Tuesday's match-up will be just the seventh time the two programs will meet, as the Marauders own a 6-0 record over the Bulldogs. In the previous meeting, the Marauders claimed 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-15, 25-10) over BSU inside the A.C. Jordan Arena on Oct.10 last season. 

Last Timeout
Bowie State (8-16, 5-6 CIAA) went 2-1 this past weekend at the CIAA Round-Up II, falling to CIAA foe Winston-Salem State Sunday morning in a four-set match 3-1 (25-19,25-13,21-25,25-17) then claimed victories against Clafin in a three-set sweep 3-0 (25-15,25-17,25-20) and Johnson C. Smith in a four-set match 3-1 (25-18,17-25,25-21,26-24). BSU's leaders throughout 24 games are Nina Edwards who leads the Bulldogs in kills (152) and blocks (57). Freshman standout Johnson leads the team in digs with 281 and 20 service aces. The team's leading passer Trinity Loundmon with 293 assists. 

A Team Effort 
Over the last four games, the Bulldogs have performed as a cohesive unit. Edwards has recorded 28 kills and nine blocks. Edwards is ranked second in the CIAA with a hitting percentage at .383. Shaska Davis has been a presence on both sides', logging in 31 kills and 31 digs. Standout freshman Johnson racked up 69 digs, while her counterpart Loundmon recorded 50 assists. Nicole Taylor has been making impact recording 26 digs and Mekenna Scott added 34 assists. Bowie State is ranked second in the league with an average of 2.09 blocks per game. 

A Look at the Marauders
A member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Millersville enters Tuesday's match with a 11-11 record, after falling to Chestnut Hill in five-sets 3-2 (25-13,25-23,22-25,23-25,14-16) on Oct. 25. Emma Kerwin led the Marauders offensively with 16 kills, while Caroline Halsey recorded a season-high four aces and five blocks. To add on, Emma Ludwig finished with 48 assist and defensively Madison Von Neida logged in 19 digs in the lost Oct. 25. This past Monday, Emma Ludwig was selected (PSAC) East Athlete of the week. 

Up Next
The Bulldogs will stay on the road as they travel to Richmond Va., on Thursday, Oct.31 at 6 p.m. to take on Virginia Union in a CIAA match at the Barco-Stevens Hall.
