BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's volleyball team will host Virginia Union University Thursday, Oct. 10 for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) match inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.

Clear Bag Policy
Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag into the stadium all of which are subject to search.
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium.
The Series
Thursday's match-up will be just the 32nd time the two programs will meet since 2008, as the Lady Panthers own a 25-6 record over BSU. In the previous meeting, the Bulldogs claimed a 3-1 (25-10,25-17,22-25,25-16) decision which provided Bowie State with its first conference win for 2023, at home inside the A.C. Jordan Arena.

Bowie State (4-13, 1-4 CIAA) went 1-2 this past weekend at the CIAA Round-Up, falling to the CIAA defending champions Shaw University Sunday in a four-set match 3-1(25-18,27-25,25-14,25-22) and Fayetteville State 3-1 (22-25,25-22,25-16,27-25) defeating Livingstone in four sets 3-1(25-11,25-20,25-12,25-12). The win against the Blue Bears gave the Bulldogs their first conference win on the season. BSU Leaders throughout the CIAA Round-Up were Trinity Loundmon who recorded 46 assist, 23 digs, and four aces, while Nina Edwards tallied 29 kills and 15 blocks. Taylor Johnson racked up 38 digs and three aces and Madyson Brinson combined for 26 kills while Shaska Davis registered 27 digs.
The Edwards Affect
Edwards has been dominant all season as she leads the Bulldogs in kills (103) and blocks (43). This past weekend in the CIAA Round Up, Edwards racked up 29 kills and 15 blocks within three games. Edwards recorded a season-high 14 kills and six blocks in the win against Livingstone. Currently, Bowie State ranks first in the CIAA in blocks with 143 total. Edwards is ranked second in the league for a hitting percentage (.402) and in blocks (1.05).
A Look at the Panthers
VUU enters Thursday's match with a (5-11, 2-2 CIAA) record after going 2-1 this past weekend in the CIAA Round Up. The Lady Panthers defeated Fayetteville State 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 28-26,25-7) on Sunday (10/6). Alana Simmons led the Panthers with 12 kills, 16 digs, and a season-high three blocks. Jade Lane recorded four aces, while Ashlee Franklin finished with 23 assist. Additionally, Madison Hill recorded a season-high 10 blocks and Aireanna Johnson finished with 16 digs in the win this past Sunday. Simmons leads the team in the following: kills (151), aces (29), and digs (161) through 16 matches. Franklin is the team assist leader with 273 and Hill controls with 48 blocks.

The Bulldogs will travel to Bluefield WV, on Monday Oct.14 at 6 p.m. to take on Bluefield State University in a CIAA match at Shutt Gymnasium.
