Women's Volleyball Travels to Virginia State for Regular Season Finale

BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State women's volleyball team will travel to Ettrick, Va., for its regular season finale on Thursday, Nov. 14 to take on the Virgina State Trojans for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) rematch. Match time is set for 6 p.m. from the VSU Multipurpose Center.

The Series
Thursday's match-up will be just the 32nd time the two programs will meet since 2008, as the Trojans owns a 29-2 record over the Bulldogs. In the previous meeting, BSU suffered a 3-1 defeat (25-17, 25-19, 25-20,25-14) inside the A.C. Jordan Arena on Sept. 26. 

Last Timeout
Bowie State (10-18, 7-8 CIAA) won it's last outing on the road to Lincoln (PA), (2-22, 1-13 CIAA) on Nov. 7 in a four-set match 3-1 (25-22, 25-10, 25-18, 25-15). The Bulldogs were led by Shaska Davis who finished with a double-double 10 kills and 10 digs, while Nina Edwards contributed with nine kills. Mekenna Scott recorded a season-high 21 assist and defensively a season-high eight digs. On the defensive end, Taylor Johnson finished with 17 digs and Melisa Anacius, Nicole Taylor, and Edwards captured three blocks in the win. 

A Look at the Trojans  
VSU enters Thursday's match with a (14-7, 12-3 CIAA) record, after defeating CIAA foe Lincoln (PA) in a three-set sweep 3-0 (25-17,26-24,25-18) to extend their winning streak to seven this past Tuesday. Gracie Darville led the charge for the Trojans with nine kills, while Peyton Reese contributed with 20 assist. On the defensive end, Denver Watkins logged eight digs and Anya Mckinley added six blocks in the win this past Tuesday. VSU leaders through 21 games are Darville who leads the team in kills (235), while Reese is the team assist leader with 418. Kellee Craig leads the team in digs 284 and aces 32. Additionally, McKinley has 75 blocks. Virginia State is ranked second in the conference in the following: points (16.38), hitting percentage of .208, assists (11.08), kills (12.30), and digs (15.78).
