Women's Volleyball Host Bluefield State On Senior Day Monday

BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's volleyball team will host Bluefield State University Monday, Nov. 4 for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) showdown on Senior Day inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. The first serve slated for 6 p.m

Clear Bag Policy
Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag into the stadium all of which are subject to search.
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium. 

The Series 
Monday's match-up will be just the fourth meeting between the two programs, as Big Blue owns a 3-0 record over the Bulldogs. In the previous meeting, BLU claimed a 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-15) victory over BSU on the road inside Ned Shott Gymnasium on Oct.10. 

Seniors Night
On Monday, the Bulldogs will honor its three seniors Shaska Davis, Nicole Taylor and Jaide Holliday prior to the first serve.

Houston, TX, native and one of the team captains, Davis has been a complete all-around leader on the court for the Bulldogs. The outside hitter offensively has notched 110 kills this season and is ranked second on the team with 132 digs. Davis recently had her best game as a Bulldog with a season-high 18 kills in the win against Virginia Union.

The hometown native (Bowie, Md.), Taylor has shown resilience on the court. The high-flying outside and right-side hitter rank second on the team in both kills 134 and blocks 43. Taylor's best game as a Bulldog was on Oct. 31 when she posted a season-high 16 kills in the victory against the Lady Panthers. 

Fayetteville, N.C.'s own Jaide Holliday has provided defensive support all season. The middle blocker has recorded 18 blocks and 18 digs on the season. Holliday gave us a memorable game on Oct. 3rd posting a season-high five digs, four blocks, four kills, and three aces in the win against NDMU. 

Last Timeout for the Bulldogs 
Bowie State (9-17, 6-6  CIAA) won its last outing against CIAA opponent Virginia Union this past Thursday in five sets 3-2 (25-21, 25-23, 25-21, 15-25,21-23). Offensively, Davis led the Bulldogs with a season-high 18 kills and 12 digs while Mekenna Scott tallied a season-high 23 assists on the day. On the defensive end, Taylor Johnson recorded 22 digs, while Holliday contributed with four blocks in the win.

Scouting Bluefield State
BLU leaders are Lynch who leads the team in kills (325) and aces (60). Hale is the team's leading passer with 699 assists. Additionally, Sydney Hoosier controls with 311 digs while Imani Stokes has 88 blocks. 

Last Timeout for the Big Blue 
Bluefield State enters Monday's match with a (12-16, 8-3 CIAA) record after losing at home to CIAA foe Virginia State University in a three-set sweep 3-0 (25-16,25-22,25-15) Oct. 31. Jannice Lynch led the Big Blue with eight kills and one ace, while Gabby Hale leads in the following assist (20), seven digs, and five blocks in the loss this past Thursday. This past Tuesday, freshman setter Gabby Hale was selected (CIAA) Rookie of the Week.

Following Monday's match against Bluefield State, the Bulldogs will travel to Lincoln, Pa., to take on Lincoln (PA) University on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. inside Manuel RiveroHall.
