Bowie State Erases a 16-Point Deficit to Defeat Shippensburg, 75-74

SHIPPENSBURG, PA --The Bowie State men's basketball team went down 16 points in the second half against Shippensburg (PA), but rallied from the deficit to beat the Raiders 75-74 on the road Sunday afternoon inside of Heiges Field House.

The Bulldogs (5-4) had two players score in double figures, led by Warren Mouganda, who had 28 points. Justin Morrisey added 12 points shooting 50 percent from the field while Elijah Davis added nine points, four assists, and four steals.

Joseph Allen pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the BSU's offense which grabbed 14 offensive boards and turned them into 11 second-chance points.

Bowie State forced 21 Shippensburg (PA) turnovers while committing 14 themselves in Sunday's game. The Bulldogs turned those takeaways into 28 points on the other end of the floor. Davis and Corey Barnes led the way defensively coming away with four steals each.

How It Happened
After a slow first half, Bowie State fell behind 47-33 heading into halftime.

The Bulldogs narrowed their deficit to 57-44 before going on an electic 10-0 run, which was finished off by Davis' layup, to shrink the deficit to 57-54 with 12:09 to go in the contest. The Bulldogs kept the rally going taking the lead after a Mounganda three with 9:41 left to go in the half. Both teams battled as the game drew to a close as BSU scored its last bucket on a Mouganda layup with 15 seconds left. The Raiders had one more chance as Markus Frank went to the line but he missed the game-tying free throw leading to the Bulldogs victory 75-74. Bowie State capitalized on 13 Shippensburg (PA) turnovers in the half, collecting 16 points off those turnovers.
