Bulldogs Fall 77-62 to Livingstone

SALISBURY, NC --The Bowie State men's basketball team got a 33-point performance from the bench, but fell 77-62 to the Livingstone Blue Bears (7-4, 1-3 CIAA) on the road Thursday in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) cross-division tilt inside New Trent Gymnasium. 

The Bulldogs (7-5, 0-2 CIAA ) had two players score in double figures, led by Amare Wimbush, who had 14 points and six rebounds. Elijah Davis tacked on 10 points and two steals and Tyler Buckhanon added six points and two blocks.

Kevon Corely pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the Bowie State offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into eight second chance points.

BSU's defense held LC to only 36.9 percent shooting from the field.

How It Happened

Bowie State fell behind 39-27 heading into halftime.

Livingstone kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 57-44 advantage before Bowie State went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Buckhanon's layup, to shrink the deficit to 57-51 with 10:23 to go in the contest. Livingstone responded and outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 77-62. Bowie State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 22 of its 35 total points.

» BSU held the Blue Bears to only 36.9 percent shooting from the field.
» The Bulldogs' bench came alive by adding 33 points to its scoring output.
» BSU cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 12 offensive boards in the game.
» Wimbush led the Bulldogs with 14 points.
» Bowie State got six rebounds from both Corely and Wimbush.
