BOWIE, MD—The Bowie State men's basketball team welcomes Claflin University for their first Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) matchup on Saturday, December 7, inside of A.C. Jordan Arena. This will be the nightcap game of a doubleheader featuring the women's game beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State (6-4, 0-0 CIAA) is currently ranked third in the CIAA in steals per game (10.8) and blocks per game (4.7). The Bulldogs are also the fifth-best team when it comes to opponent's field goal percentage, holding the opposition to 42.6 percent from the field.
Amare Wimbush leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounds, averaging 12.9 points per game and six rebounds per game.
Elijah Davis leads the Bulldogs in assists and steals with 3.3 assists per game and 2.7 steals per game.
Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are currently on a three-game win streak after edging the University of the District of Columbia 73-70 inside of A.C Jordan Arena on Wednesday night. Bowie State was led by Davis, who tallied 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and five steals. Wimbush shot efficiently while posting a double-double, tallying 15 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 6-9 from the field. BSU was disruptive on defense, forcing 19 turnovers while getting 13 steals. These forced turnovers led to 21 points and 18 fastbreak points.
Scouting Claflin
Claflin University (4-4, 1-0 CIAA) is a CIAA opponent who is looking for its second win against the North division this Saturday. The Panthers are the fifth-best offense in the conference, averaging 80.2 points per game. They are also the best three-point shooting team, making 10.4 shots per game from long range. John Whitehead III leads the team in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game, while Gregory Spurlock averages 12.3 points per game. Damerius Wash is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 3.8 rebounds per game.
Last Time Out for the Panthers
The Panthers enter Saturday's contest after a tightly contested matchup, defeating northern division rival Virginia Union 79-76 inside Barco-Stevens Hall on Thursday night. Claflin was led by Whitehead III, who tallied 23 points, shooting 7-11 from the three-point line. David Onyekonwu tallied a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Cristian Sanon tallied 15 points off the bench for the Panthers. Claflin made 13 three-pointers while holding Virginia Union to only three makes from behind the arch.

Bowie State will head to the first state for a matchup against Goldey-Beacom College on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6:00 p.m. from Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE. The Bulldogs are 1-1 all-time against the Lighting, and this will be their first meeting since 2011, when BSU won 84-78 back in Bowie, MD.
