PETERSBURG, VA --Kevon Corley, Joel Webb, and Warren Mouganda combined to score 44 of BSU's 58 total points, but the Bulldogs fell to the Virginia State Trojans (14-13, 8-8 CIAA, 5-4 North) 66-58 on the road Wednesday.
Corley led the Bulldogs (10-16, 5-11Â CIAA, 4-5Â North) with 21 points and six rebounds. Webb added 12 points and Mouganda helped out with 11 points and two steals.
BSU's defense held VSUÂ to only 17.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Trojans did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with nine offensive rebounds and managed six second-chance points.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs struggled out of the gate, falling behind 35-25 heading into halftime.
VSU kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 65-50 advantage before BSU went on an 8-0 run to shrink the deficit to 65-58 with 38 seconds to go in the contest. The Trojans responded and outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 66-58. BSUÂ got out on the break in the half, scoring 13 fast break points.
