WASHINGTON, D.C. --The Bowie State softball team was not able to score a run against Howard (9-3) pitcher sophomore Amelia Weber on Wednesday afternoon as the Bulldogs were shut out 2-0 by the Bison at the National Youth Academy in the day's nightcap.
Taylor Dawkins (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Bowie State (3-5). Akirra Pullen started the ballgame and went 1.1 shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.
Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Sydney Edmond, who went 1-for-3 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bowie State managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Bulldogs last got a runner on third in the seventh, when Ryan Fraser made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» BSU went 2-for-4 (.500) with runners in scoring position.
» Bowie State pitchers limited Howard to just 1-for-7 (.143) with runners in scoring position.
» BSU pitchers faced 31 Howard hitters in the game, allowing 12 ground balls and three fly balls while striking out two.
