BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State softball team dropped a doubleheader against Bloomsburg University (10-6) 6-1, and 11-2 on Saturday afternoon Mar. 16 at Bulldogs Softball Field.
GAME 1 | Bloomsburg (PA) 6, Bowie State 1
Akirra Pullen (2-8) started and took the loss in the circle for BSU (5-15).
In the batter's box, the Bulldogs were paced by Jayla Hill, who went 2-for-3 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 6-0, the Bulldogs first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. Hill came across to score the lone run of the inning for Bowie State and get them on the board. The Bulldogs were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

GAME 2 | Bloomsburg (PA) 11, Bowie State 2
Lindsey George (2-7) got the ball to start for Bowie State (5-16) and took the loss. Taylor Dawkins was a bright spot for the Bulldogs, starting the ballgame and throwing 2.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Dawkins led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Adrianna Dockett provided a standout effort as well, going 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 6-0, the Bulldogs first put runs on the board in the second inning. Dawkins put BSU on the board with a one-out solo home run off Kelly Eberly.
The Bulldogs deficit grew to 11-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the third inning. BSU scored a run when Dockett drew a walk from Eberly that scored Presleigh Braxton, which tightened the Huskies lead to 11-2. The Bulldogs were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
