STROUDSBURG, PA --Ellianna Henneberg went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI for the No. 8 Bowie State Bulldogs in a 9-2 loss to the No. 5 Shippensburg Red Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Creekview Park.
Akirra Pullen (9-11) got the ball to start for BSU (20-23) and took the loss. The right-hander went four innings, giving up seven runs, one earned, on five hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Henneberg put BSU on the board with a two-out solo home run off Madalyn Dyer.
The Red Raiders then rallied to score two runs and take a 2-1 lead before the Bulldogs got back on the board in the third. BSU scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Lindsey George, which brought the score level at 2-2. Shippensburg then scored seven times over the remaining four innings to break the tie and grab the 9-2 win.

The Bulldogs conclude the 2024 season winning their second consecutive Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) Championship and second consecutive automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Softball Championship.
Bowie State loses seven seniors including first baseman Aliyah Smith, second baseman Saniya Jones, pitcher Pullen, catcher Henneberg, third baseman Jahkya Watkins, pitcher Karen Fritgez, and LeAire Livingston (manager).
