Bulldogs Rally Back Defeating Fayetteville State 10-4

GLEN ALLEN, VA --The No 3. Bulldogs (17-21) fought back from down 4-2 in the fifth inning to take down south No. 2 Fayetteville State (14-19), 10-4 Friday morning.

Lindsey George (7-8) started in the circle and picked up the win for BSU. The right-hander went five innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing three walks and striking out four. Karen Fritzges also made an impact in the circle for the Bulldogs, throwing two shutout innings while allowing three hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Jahkya Watkins drove in two runs for BSU with a single, that scored Coreena Dunham and Presleigh Braxton.

The Bulldogs lost the lead they built in the first but got back on the board in the sixth trailing 4-2. BSU scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Braxton, which brought the Bulldogs lead to 5-4.

BSU kept FSU scoreless before building their lead to 10-4 the following inning. The Bulldogs bats heated up in the inning, scoring five runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Jayla Hill and a two-run double from Dunham. The score remained 10-4 for the rest of the game, as BSU coasted to the win.

GAME NOTES
» BSU's highest-scoring inning was the seventh when it pushed five runs across.
» The Bulldogs stole five bases as a team.
» BSU went 5-for-15 (.333) with runners in scoring position.
» BSU pitchers faced 36 FSU hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and eight fly balls while striking out six.
» The Bulldogs drew 10 walks from Broncos pitching.
» Dunham led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
