Philadelphia, PA -- Joseph Allen collected a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, but the Bowie State men's basketball team (9-9, 1-5 CIAA) fell to the Lincoln (PA) Lions (12-6, 7-0 CIAA) 64-50 on the road Saturday.
The Bulldogs had two players score in double figures, led by Allen, who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Morrisey tacked on 12 points and Elijah Davis added six points and seven assists. Led by Allen's five offensive rebounds, Bowie State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 16 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.
The Bowie State defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 16 Lincoln (PA) turnovers. Those takeaways turned into six points on the offensive end of the floor. Caleb Johnson led the way individually for the Bulldogs with three steals.
How It Happened
Bowie State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 27-16 heading into halftime. The Bulldogs narrowed its deficit to 29-23 before going on an 11-0 run, finished off by Morrisey's layup, to seize a 34-29 lead with 14:08 to go in the contest. Lincoln (PA) re-asserted control, outscoring the Bulldogs 35-16 the rest of the way to hand Bowie State the 64-50 loss. Bowie State took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 34 points in the lane.
