BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State men's basketball team got a 38-point performance from the bench but fell 65-57 to the in a Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) matchup against the Shaw Bears at home inside A.C Jordan Arena Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (8-8, 1-4) had two players score in double figures, led by Justin Morrisey, who had 19 points. Joseph Allen added 10 points and six rebounds off the bench and Elijah Davis added eight points, four assists, and two steals.
Bowie State did a great job disrupting Shaw's shots in the contest, coming away with seven blocks. Tyler Buckhanon led the way individually for the Bulldogs with three rejections.
How It Happened
Bowie State kept it close in the first half but entered halftime down 24-21.
Shaw kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 37-26 advantage before Bowie State went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Davis' layup, to shrink the deficit to 37-35 with 11:11 to go in the contest. Shaw responded and outscored the Bulldogs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 65-57. Bowie State capitalized on 10 Shaw turnovers in the period, collecting nine points off those turnovers.
