BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's volleyball team (4-10, 1-1 CIAA) will travel to Fayetteville, N.C., this weekend, Oct. 3 through Oct. 4, to compete in the first of two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) round-up hosted by Fayetteville State University inside Felton J. Capel Arena.

Bowie State Heading into Round-Up
The BSU volleyball team enters the heart of conference play ranked fourth in the Northern Division of the CIAA. The Bulldogs have won two of their last three, including a sweep over Washington Adventist and a road victory at Elizabeth City State, showcasing improvement on both sides of the ball.

Bowie State ranks third in the conference in blocks, led by Nina Edwards, who is fourth in the CIAA in hitting percentage (.307) and first in blocks, averaging 1.09 per set. Lyric Snowden is fifth in the league in points, averaging 3.92 per set, while Nicole Taylor and Abena Asomani-Martin provide additional scoring depth. Taylor Johnson anchors the defense with 152 digs and 21 service aces, and Trinity Loundmon has tallied 165 assists to pace the attack. With blocking and serving among the team's strengths, the Bulldogs will look to climb higher in the CIAA standings.

Scouting Shaw

• Record: 4–2 overall, 2–0 CIAA.
• Offense: Powered by Makayla Brown (3.7 kills/set, .245) and Asia Olivera (.490 hitting). Team hits .219 overall, well above opponents' .110.
• Defense: Strong in the back row (14.2 digs/set) led by libero Kalia Morris (4.0 digs/set). Blocking is steady but not dominant (1.5/set).
• Serving/Passing: Big weapon from the line with 74 aces (3.4/set), but also high-risk with 61 errors.

Scouting Fayetteville State

• Record: 5–4 overall, 1–1 CIAA.
• Offense: Led by Symone Morris (3.5 kills/set) and Chiara Vittoni (3.4/set). Team hits .197, above opponents' .160.
• Defense: Strong back row with 14.8 digs/set, paced by Jasmine Culp (4.2/set). Net presence solid at 1.8 blocks/set, led by Amihan Johnson (.364 hitting, 27 blocks).
• Serving/Passing: 51 aces (1.5/set) offset by 75 errors. Serve receive has allowed 66 errors compared to opponents' 51. 

Scouting Livingstone

• Record: 6–4 overall, 1–1 CIAA.
• Offense: Led by Love Riley (3.6 kills/set, .203) with support from Mya Dalpiaz (2.5/set). Team hitting just .144, below opponents' .136.
• Defense: Back row anchored by MacKenzie Morgan (4.3 digs/set); team averages 15.8 digs/set. Blocking is solid (1.7/set), paced by Penelope Johnson (21 blocks).
• Serving/Passing: Productive but risky — 70 aces (1.8/set) offset by 77 errors. Serve receive has allowed 97 errors, giving opponents an edge.
