BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State football team (1-4, 0-2 CIAA) came up short against Fayetteville State (3-3, 3-0 CIAA), falling 38-10 Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.
The Bulldogs kept the first half competitive, highlighted by a 70-yard strike from quarterback
Kevin Taylor to
Joseph Towler and a blocked punt by
Markus Travis that
Kyree Lenn recovered. Bowie State capitalized late in the second quarter when Taylor connected with Towler again, this time for a 28-yard touchdown to pull within 14-7 at the half.
In the third quarter, BSU chipped away at the deficit as
Chris Coleman drilled a 35-yard field goal to make it 21-10. However, the Broncos pulled away in the fourth, capitalizing on a defensive touchdown and late scoring drives.
Taylor led the offense with 271 passing yards and a touchdown, while Towler hauled in six catches for 132 yards and the score. Defensively,
Damir McCrary paced the Bulldogs with eight tackles.
