Bulldogs Cruise Past Mansfield, 73–36

MANSFIELD, PA – The Bowie State women's basketball improved to 2-1 on the season with a dominant 73-36 road victory over Mansfield University on Saturday afternoon inside Decker Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs forced 35 turnovers and held a commanding 40-12 edge in points in the paint to fuel the win.

BSU set the tone early, using strong defensive pressure to build an 18-9 lead after the first quarter. Kristin Sterling opened the scoring, while Afia Owusu-Mensah and Mayah Garner provided key buckets to keep momentum firmly with the Bulldogs. A late jumper from Garner, assisted by Sydney Anthony, highlighted the early offensive rhythm.

The Bulldogs continued to impose their will in the second quarter, capitalizing on MU's turnovers and pushing the advantage to 32-18 at halftime. Gabriella Clary and Malaka Cobb sparked fast-break opportunities, while Owusu-Mensah knocked down free throws to keep BSU in control.

Bowie State delivered its most dominant stretch in the third quarter, outscoring Mansfield 26-10. Sterling powered the offense inside, while Mia Smith buried a three-pointer and converted a three-point play to stretch the lead. Mansfield was limited to just one field goal in the quarter as BSU's defensive pressure intensified.

The Bulldogs closed the game with a steady final frame, outscoring the Mounties 15-8. Taylor Timms knocked down a jumper to start the quarter, while Nyla Coleman and Jayla Tucker added points at the line. Owusu-Mensah's late layup capped a strong all-around performance as Bowie State secured the 73-36 victory.
