Bulldogs Eye Key Divisional Win as Lincoln (PA) Visits for Greek Night

BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (11-17, 7-7 CIAA, 3-5 North) will host Lincoln (PA) (2-23, 0-12 CIAA, 0-8 North) in a divisional matchup on Thursday, Nov. 6, for Greek Night and Black Out. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside A.C. Jordan Arena.

Thursday's matchup will also serve as Greek Night inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The chapter with the highest attendance ratio will win a special prize. BSU fans are encouraged to wear black and show their support as the Bulldogs battle the Lady Lions!

The Bowie State women's volleyball team was defeated in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) by Bluefield State on Monday night at the Ned Shott Gymnasium. The Bulldogs totaled 37 kills, led by Nicole Taylor and Nina Edwards, while Lyric Snowden added strong play at the net.

Bowie State showed early energy in each set and battled to a 21-21 tie in the third, but key runs from the Big Blue down the stretch proved decisive. Despite the loss, BSU displayed balance across its lineup, with contributions from Madyson Brinson, Melisa Anacius, and setter Mekenna Scott.

Scouting Bowie State

  • Snowden leads the Bowie State attack with 2.52 kills per set and a team-high 30 service aces, while also adding 157 digs defensively.
  • Edwards follows closely with 2.33 kills per set and ranks among the CIAA's most efficient hitters with a .380 attack percentage and 81 total blocks.
  • Taylor provides balance in the middle, averaging 2.01 kills per set and contributing 51 total blocks.

 The Lady Lions average 8.3 kills per set while hitting .084 as a team. Erica Taylor leads the attack with 2.46 kills per set and a .123 hitting percentage, followed by Haley Loper (1.71) and Madison Hill (1.30). Setter Jaida Lumpkin directs the offense with 3.73 assists per set, while Janaa Smith adds 2.40 assists and provides secondary scoring with 1.20 kills per set.

Defense: Lincoln (PA) averages 1.2 blocks per set, led by Hill (0.47 blk/set) and Taylor (0.24 blk/set). Libero Mariah Webster anchors the back row with 3.63 digs per set, supported by Lumpkin (1.97) and Smith (1.37).

Serving/Passing: The Lady Lions average 1.6 aces per set (151 total). Smith leads the team with 39 aces, followed by Lumpkin (31) and Hill (20). Serve-receive consistency remains an area of focus, as Lincoln (PA) averages 3.3 reception errors per set.
