Bowie State Welcomes Livingstone for CIAA Doubleheader Monday Night

BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State men's and women's basketball teams are set to face Livingstone College in an early Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) doubleheader on Monday, Dec. 15, inside A.C. Jordan Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. for the women's game, followed by the men's at 7:30 p.m.

Clear Bag Policy
Fans may only bring the following into the arena (all items are subject to search):

  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags not exceeding 12" x 6" x 12"
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (such as Ziploc)
  • Small clutch bags measuring 4.5" x 6.5", with or without a strap

All other bags are prohibited, including purses, backpacks, non-clear drawstring bags, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Fans are encouraged to return unapproved items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot store items that are not permitted in the arena.

Game Promotion
The Monday doubleheader will feature a Hoops & Holly theme. Fans are encouraged to wear holiday sweaters or festive attire. There will be a prize for the best ugly sweater or most festive outfit.

Scouting Bowie State Women's Basketball
The Bulldogs women's team is 6–2 (0-1 CIAA) entering the contest. They allow just 52.9 points per game and average 70.8 on offense. Afia Owusu-Mensah leads with 10.8 points per game. Mia Smith (10.6 ppg) and Malaka Cobb (10.3 ppg) add steady production. BSU controls the paint, averaging 41.6 rebounds and 7.4 blocks per game.

The Bulldogs dropped their CIAA opener on Saturday, falling 68–58 to Winston-Salem State. Bowie State forced 21 turnovers and converted 19 free throws, but shot 30.2 percent from the field and was outscored in the first three quarters.

The Bulldogs men's squad (2-9, 0-1 CIAA) averages 68.5 points per game and is led by Jaiden McGhee, who is scoring 16.7 points per contest. Guy Fauntleroy (12.2 ppg) and KJ West (12.1 ppg) provide additional scoring, while Charles Thomas, III adds a presence inside.

Bowie State is coming off a 71–60 loss to Winston-Salem State in its CIAA opener. The Bulldogs forced 15 turnovers and had three players score in double figures, but were limited to 38.1 percent shooting and outrebounded 36–27.

Scouting Livingstone Women's Basketball

  • LC enters with a 1–7 record, including a 0–1 mark in CIAA play.
  • The Lady Blue Bears rank near the bottom in shooting, hitting 35.8% from the field and 24.8% from three-point range.
  • They average 65.4 points while allowing 74.6 (–9.3 margin).
  • Livingstone averages 47.6 rebounds per game, led by Breasia Coit (11.9 rpg).
  • Jasiyah Crawford leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg) and three-pointers (18), while Ny'Asia Green leads in assists (29).
  • Boston Bates (9.9 ppg) and Damaria Moree (6.0 ppg) provide additional offensive support.

Scouting Livingstone Men's Basketball

  • Livingstone enters the contest at 4–4 overall, with wins over Paine, Virginia–Lynchburg, Allen, and Bluefield State.
  • The Blue Bears average 75.0 points per game while allowing 76.8 (–1.8 scoring margin).
  • Livingstone shoots 41.9% from the field, 34.8% from three-point range, and 64.1% at the free-throw line.
  • The Blue Bears average 40.9 rebounds per game, with Omarion Bodrick leading the team at 8.9 rebounds per game.
  • James Nipper leads Livingstone in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game, while shooting 41.4% from the floor and 76.1% at the line.
  • Kenneth Tyree Jr. provides perimeter scoring, averaging 12.2 points per game and shooting 47.6% from three, while Bodrick adds 10.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game, anchoring the paint.

The Bulldogs return to action on separate occasions, with the women's team traveling to Florida to compete in the Lynn Holiday Classic from Dec. 20–21 in Boca Raton, Florida. The men's squad is set to resume play on Friday, Dec. 19, facing Millersville University inside Pucillo Gymnasium at 3 p.m.
