MILLERSVILLE, PA — The Bowie State men's basketball team (3-10) dropped an 88-71 decision to Millersville University on Friday night inside Pucillo Gymnasium.
Despite an active defensive effort that produced eight blocked shots and 11 steals, the Bulldogs were unable to overcome the Marauders' efficiency at the free-throw line.
BSU and MU battled through a competitive opening half, with the Bulldogs trading runs and applying consistent defensive pressure. Millersville carried a 37-30 advantage into the break, aided largely by its performance at the stripe. The Marauders converted 14 of 15 free throws in the first half, while Bowie State went 7-for-14. A 3-pointer by
Jaiden McGhee at the 8:34 mark trimmed the deficit to nine, but Millersville answered with points in the paint and at the line to maintain control. The Bulldogs recorded five blocks in the opening period but were unable to capitalize fully on turnovers.
The Marauders sustained their momentum in the second half, extending their lead with timely baskets and success from the free-throw line. Bowie State looked to respond behind perimeter shooting and inside scoring, including a 3-pointer from
KJ West early in the half and a late push by
Jailin Landis, who converted a layup and free throw with under five minutes remaining. However, MU consistently answered, pulling away down the stretch to secure the win.
