WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Bowie State men's basketball (2-6) fell to Howard, 85-69, on Saturday night at Burr Gymnasium, despite a strong performance at the free-throw line where the Bulldogs finished 33 of 41.
Bowie State answered Howard's early burst with steady offense, including a putback from Jaiden McGhee that tied the game at 2-2. The first half featured several momentum shifts, and a McGhee fast-break layup pulled the Bulldogs within 28-25. Howard closed the half with a small run to take a 42-39 lead into the break.
The Bison opened the second half on a 12-0 run to extend their lead. Bowie State continued to attack and convert at the line, hitting 22 free throws in the period, but HU's 58.1% shooting and BSU's 11 turnovers in the half proved too much to overcome.
